EMMA MACFADYEN

Emma is a talented artist. Not only does she make beautiful hand painted pottery, with each piece being individual and unique. She is also a fine sculptor with a passion for animals, with horses being her speciality. Emma captures the movement and feeling of each animal as she is very keen on anatomy. Emma grew up on a farm in Devon surrounded by animals and was always drawing and painting them from a very early age, encouraged by her parents. Emma’s father Sandy was a well-known artist. Emma started sculpting about 20 years ago and learnt how to cast her own clay sculptures into bronzes using the ‘lost wax’ process. This is the same technique used by the ancient Greek and Chinese sculptors. She has been commissioned by The Racehorse of the Year, and for several Olympic horses, prizewinning cattle and much-loved dogs.
